She could see him from the corner of her eye, engaging in a conversation with some other guy at the bar. Sid had picked a booth to sit in, all by herself as she had basically no one who still wanted to hang around her. After the incident they started thinking of her as crazy, all because she wanted them to believe her. But who would believe a story like that? Any sane person would look at Isaac and see a clean man, someone who would be adored by everyone. With his blonde hair and pristine looks, no wonder they wouldn’t take her claims seriously.
It was something about the way he talked that made everyting he said so convincing, he could tell you to jump off of a bridge and you would do it purely because he said you should. It was the way he operated, as a smooth talker, reeling you in before he could control you. Not everyone became his victim ofcourse, that would be too obvious, just some people every few years. He always succeeded, except when it was Sid’s turn.
She downed her whiskey in a second flat before she stood up to order another at the bar. She kept her distance from him, but refused to show her fear of the man by staying away from him all together. This pub was her favourite and she didn’t want to stop coming here to destroy her organs. She stood at the bar, waiting for her refill. For a second she looked up, only to catch Isaac’s eyes meeting hers. The piercing blue colour sent a shiver down her spine. He smiled, altough it was more of a grin. Sid looked away quickly, grabbing her, now whiskey filled, glass and heading back to the booth she sat in earlier. For a second she put the glass down and let it go, simply to check the time on her phone. She glanced at the tattoo on her hand that was put there against her will. It didn’t take long for her to stop focussing on it and check the time. Why she even bothered was another question. Leaving the pub would happen when Ben, the owner, told her he was going to close the building all together and she was basically forced to leave or locked in as Ben always said while laughing. Sid always laughed with him, but dreaded having to go outside. It was a short walk back to her small house, but she never knew what could happen in the time she was outside. For now she had nothing to worry about however, plenty of time before closing time and Isaac was seeminly keeping his distance and certainly occupied with other things, or in this case, other people.

A new town was a scary idea, something that crawled onto his nerves and that he had been looking up against ever since he had to move. He had been eighteen the first time, having to move out because he was an adult and adults shouldn’t live with their parents. He stayed in the neighbourhood then though. Two months before his twentieth birthday his contract ended and the building owner wanted him out to rent the place out to someone who wasn’t late with rent, or loud at nights. To someone who didn’t leave the place a complete mess and never cleaned up. He had understood it, but it had dawned on him that that meant he had to move out. After searching for weeks he couldn’t find something in his old neighbourhood, or even close. The only place that seemed to be available to him was a small house on the other side of the state in a small town that he had never even heard of. It was nowhere close to home. But this was a big realization for him that it was truly time to move on, move out for real. Now he had just turned twenty today and he was placed in a bar in his new home town, holding a glass of iced tea in his hand while listening to the stranger that had taken the spot besides him. “Never see many new people around,” he had said to him, flashing a smile filled with beautiful straight white teeth. His blonde hair had a magical thing hanging over it, something that really caught Dave’s eyes. The boy had taken no time to take the stool next to him, ordering a gin and tonic for himself and asking Dave if he wanted something too, but Dave had his Iced Tea and since he wasn’t legal yet he just declined his offer. The boy proceeded to introduce himself as Isaac. Before he let Dave introduce himself he tried to guess his name, he had been wrong multiple times before he finally let Dave tell it. He told him it was David. Isaac commented on the fact that it was a biblical name, while it actually had been a Jewish name, but Dave had decided not to tell him that, seeing as the guy was just trying to be nice and Dave didn’t see anything wrong in getting some more connections in this new town. Isaac’s way of talking was smooth, like everything seemed to be with the guy. He sent smiles to Dave every few seconds, making the guy feel slightly uncomfortable. Seeing Isaac smile like that to others too made him feel less awkward, giving him the feeling like that was just who the guy was, not like he was trying to impress Dave. Although Dave didn’t see why anyone would. After their conversation someone who seemed to know Isaac walked into the pub. It made the tall blonde look up. “It was nice meeting you David, I’ll see you around town.” He winked, actually winked, at Dave before he sent him another smile and walked off. Being slightly startled by the wink Dave’s gaze fell down on his iced tea. He was quite sure that must have been the weirdest interaction he had ever had, but he figured that was just that guy’s personality, and he was honestly no one to judge.

Sid had been occupied with her thoughts, going over things she never wanted to think of again. Its was something that seemed to happen more and more as the days passed by. At work she could distract herself enough to not let it happen, but the second she got home or spent another evening in the pub like she did right now, those were the moments that her mind seemed to be in control. It was painful to even realize for herself. She used to be so in charge of it all, her life, her emotions. But then Isaac happened and nothing had been the same ever since. Well, the rest of the town seemingly just lived their lives as if nothing ever happened and to them, nothing ever did, but for Sid it was weird to wake up everyday, go to work, cool dinner. All the normal things seemed ever so slightly off and it made her crazy.
People around het told her she didn’t look the same. As if she hadn’t slept in days and eaten in even longer. She did eat however, but sleeping was still difficult. She was afraid he would be there when she opened her eyes. Pure exhaustion forced her to sleep at the end of the day. But today was friday and she knew the pub closed at four in the morning, after which she had to go home, or talk to Ben for as long as she could to have something on her mind.
She noticed an infamiliar figure sitting at the bar, a face she’d never seen before. Before she could say hi however, Isaac had already taken the seat next to him. Now it was a waiting game. Someone who didn’t know her was an oppertunity to make a single friend in this town. He didn’t know who she was or the rumours around her and that made it easy to talk to him she thought. Talking to people was never something she failed at, it was more so that people were avoiding her. But this boy didn’t know any of it. It was perfect.
Isaac left, finally. His now empty seat was her new goal. With some foolish optimism, or maybe it was the alcohol, she left the booth, with her glass in hand and made her way to the seat next to the stranger. She sat diwn next to him, smiling after she took the last sip of her whiskey and ordered a refill. “Hey.” She said with a soft smile on her face. “Haven’t seen you before. New in town?” Ben set the glass back down in front of her before she thanked him and let her eyes drift of to the stranger again.

Emptying his iced tea Dave started to regret his choice, iced tea just wasn’t doing it for him, but he didn’t think he could get what he wanted in this bar. With a deep sigh  he looked down at his now empty glass in defeat. He didn’t even know if they had any caprisun in the stores here, what if this weird town didn’t sell caprisun? Or even worse. What if they didn’t have cheetos? Not the flaming hot kind, that burned his mouth, just the normal cheese kinds. Dave felt devastated, incredibly saddened by these horrific thoughts. His gaze shifted up to the wall behind the bar, eyeing the bottles of alcoholic beverages, biting his lip softly as he stared. He wondered what people liked about alcohol, about getting drunk and having a headache the next moening. He figured it was like when he would eat too many m&m’s and he would get a sugar high. He always had a headache after that, but he couldn’t help it, once the package was open he had to finish all the m&m’s, that was a basic rule. He couldn’t possibly leave an open bag of m&m’s in his snack cabinet.
Grabbing all his courage by the dick Dave shortly held up a hand towards the bartender that gave the kid a weird look before walking over. “What can I get you kid?” He had asked him, sounding unsure, like this twink was going to ask him for a shot of pure vodka. “Do you happen to have ani caprisuns?” The question made the older man laugh, until he realized the kid had been completely serious. “Caprisun? Sure thing kid, just a minute,” he then said, a soft chuckle following his words before he turned towards the little fridge behind him. He actually pulled out a caprisun container, happily surprising Dave with this. He made sure to thank the guy vigorously when he was handed the container. Dave happily stuck the straw into the container, nailing it in one try and silently cheering for himself. That was probably one of the biggest achievements of his entire life, he had never felt this rough sense of pride for himself.
The sudden ‘hey’ he heard next to him spooked Dave, causing him to accidentally squeeze his caprisun too tight and having the juice squirt in his face. “Oh my caprisun, I might as well die an insufferable death immediately,” he mumbled then, shortly looking down on his juice before lifting his head towards the female who had taken her spot besides him. “Hello!” He said cheerfully, smiling widely, surprised by the amount of friendly people in this neighborhood. He had already been greeted by two people now, which was more than one. “Ah yeah this is my first day in town. I’m David, but you can call me Dave. Some call me dove because I like pigeons,” he introduced himself, sticking out his hand towards the lady while still smiling brightly.

She watched as the kid seemed to hold a pack of caprisun, a beverage she hadnt had since she was a little child. He was kind of adorable, but for her to meet him like that for the first time was slightly off putting. He seemed like the kind of person that thoroughly enjoyed small talk, while she despised it. She had however had enough whiskey to revive a dead person that evening so it all seemed alright in that moment. She took his hand with a smile and shook it. “Alright.. I suppose pigeons are pretty alright animals, but I’m just going to call you Dave.” She said, still a little confused at the slew of words that seemed to spill out of him like a waterfall. “I’m Sid, or Sidney if you wanna be that kind of person.” For a second her eyes fell on her glass of whiskey, which she drank in about a second or less. “So what made you move here? This place is a paranormal hotspot you know, you could’ve chosen a way safer town.” It was in her nature to mess around with people and any oppertunity to scare them was one she couldn’t resist. Besides, he seemed like the kind of person that would get scared easily. It didn’t take long for her to regret het decision however. He was too sweet to scare like that. “No wait, I’m only joking. It’s a nice town this one. But you just seem a little young to be living on your own.”
Suddenly she could feel a pair of arms around her shoulders, a pair she was all too familiar with. “Hey doll.” She heard his voice doom up next to her ear. Doll, he knew the deeper meaning behind the word that seemed just like a fun nickname. She was still his puppet, a doll on a string he could still control if he wanted to and he knew it. “Hello Isaac.” She responded somewhat quietly. As he changed his position he led his hand glide past her throat, a clear statement to her, but meaningless to anyone else. It drove her to the verge of madness how he still toyed with her. “You’ve been drinking an awful lot tonight, maybe you should go home, doll.” She looked up in fear, before composing herself. “I’m alri-“ he cut her off like he had done so many times before. “I’ll walk you home, alright?” It seemed like a harmless gesture, just another nice thing Isaac did for someone, but she didn’t want him to. Before she could speak up in disagreement, he grabbed her arm and almost dragged her off of her seat. “Wait.” She murmered, barely loud enough for the man to hear, who surprisingly waited, probably to not look too suspicious. Sid grabbed a piece of paper out of the pocket of her jeans, that turned out to be a crumbled up receipt. She grabbed a pen that was laying on the bar and quickly scribbled her phone number on it, before handing it to Dave. She vaguely smiled before letting Isaac drag her away.
The cold air hit her like a wave of ice, sending a shiver down her spine. The man next to her still had his arm wrapped around her schoulders, keeping her body close to his and with his strenght she couldn’t escape. Not in the state she was in. As he said, he walked her home. “You shouldn’t have.” Her voice quietly spoke as she fumbled with her keys, in order to unlock her front door. “I can’t take any risks.” The voice he used in the pub was different from the one she heard behind her, indicating that he stood closer than she would have liked him to. Quickly she opened the door, hearing his footsteps follow hers. She wanted to shut the door, but the second she turned around she already almost bumped into Isaac. “Carefull there, doll.” The menacing tone he used when calling her by the nickname made her feel sick. His usual smile was nowhere to be found, as was his friendly demeanor. He shut the door behind him, almost making her freak out enough to give her a heart attack. “Have you told him anything?” She shook her head, looking up at him with fear written all over her face. “You don’t want to make a fool of yourself again, now do you? When will you accept that no one is going to believe you?” He took a few steps forward, making Sid take a few steps backwards, feeling her back pressing against the living room wall. He kept walking closer to her, before he stood close enough to cover her in his shadow. “Besides,” his hand wrapped around her throat, slightly squeezing it to remind her of his dominance, “you are still my puppet, aren’t you?” His grip got tighter as he spoke, making Sid grab his wrist. “You can’t kill me.” She managed to say. “Oh, well look at that, won’t you just see the position you’re in? Doll, I’m already so close, why should I stop now?” He released her just ever so slightly, giving her the chance to speak. “David knows you’re walking me home, and more people have seen you. If I disappear tonight they’ll grow suspicious.” She could see his brows move, the way they always did when he was thinking. “I suppose you’re right.” He murmered. “Then let this be a warning or a.. taste of what it’s going to be like, if you will.” Once more he squeezed her throat, making her gasp for air before she couldn’t anymore. For seconds he held the grip on her, making her dizzy as he watched the tears well up in her eyes. Finally he let go, knowing what he had done and how she would feel. Against all her instincts, she grabbed his arm. She was about to fall to the floor due to the lack of oxygen and her body instinctively grabbed the first thing her hand could get a hold of, and that just so happened to be Isaac. He lifted her off the ground as if she were made of air and set her down on the couch. It made her conflicted, like when she first met him. He was always so rough and then had these little gestures that made him seem kind. She watched him disappear into the kitchen and look around for something. As he walked out and she could see him again she noticed something in his hand. “I’m taking this, okay doll?” It was his outside voice again, sounding so soothing and nice in her ears, yet bringing up a nauseous feeling. She could do nothing but nod in agreement. He stood still in front of her, bending down and tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, before he placed his hand underneat her chin to lift her head up a bit. “Changing the locks won’t save you, you know that.” Referring to the key he held in his hand. He pulled his hand away from her face quickly, letting her head fall down again. “Now get some rest, you look like you can use it.” There it was again, that tone in his voice that made him feel like a completely different person. His footsteps were the only thing she heard, before his voice sounded through her house again. “Sleep well, doll.” The light creaking of her front door, followed by the slam that shut it, let her know he had left.

“Pigeons are lit, I mean, they’re so metal. Have you ever seen a baby pigeon? Like, do they just come out of the pigeon womb like fullsized? Is that why pigeons are so fat? Because they secretly all carry a fullsized baby pigeon inside their stomach? I mean like, dad said they came from eggs but that’s not how babies are born, I followed biology in junior year.” Dave was just rambling and he had to stop himself from continuing his talk about nothing before he would scare off this potential friend. He had a thing for talking too much , answering a simple yes or no questions with a two page long essay as to why his answer would either be yes or no, while still not really answering the question in it. People often thought it was annoying but his dad always listened to him ramble, though he was an alcoholic and blamed Dave for his drining issues, he still listened and that was what mattered. “Oh that’s a cool name. It’s nice to meet you Sid,” he smiled happily, being grateful for this town having so many nice people, though the last guy was a little creepy too. Something about him sent ahivers down his spine while it also made Dave’s jeans just a little tighter. He was confused and (sexually) frustrated by it, but there was nothing he could do about that. Dave’s eyebrows jumped up when she said ‘paranormal hotspot’ and ‘ssafer town’ because  sure he might not be living close to his home town, but this place couldn’t be that scary right? Before he actually dared to answer that she already spoke up again. “Oh thank Jod, you scared me there. But this was the only town in our state with a room available that would accept me,” he then smiled weakly. “Oh yeah i just turned eighteen like a week ago, but my parents kicked me out so I needed a place because I slept outside for like an evening but there were these guys who said I could sleep with them but when we were lying under a cardboard box together, spooning each other to safe some heat, one of them kept poking me against my back and the other kept jokingly pulling down my pamts but it was cold out so I didn’t like the joke so I left after that and spent the night in a 24 hour McDonald’s,” he told her, not even realizing he was over sharing again.
A sudden guy alpeared behind Sid and Dave was about to call out for stranger danger when the boy spoke up and he recognized him as Isaac, the both scary and hit guy that had started a conversation with David not that long ago. The situation was weird but so was Isaac and maybe Sid was too, so Dave wasn’t one to judge when he basically dragged her out of the bar. Before she left she handed him a note. As he opened it up he frowned to see it was a receipt for cigarettes and beer. He frowned slightly until he turned it around and saw that it had numbers written on it. It dawned on Dave that it was her number and she wasn’t trying to push him into smoking and drinking. He smiled happily at the receipt after which he finished his caprisun. He left money on the bar for his two drinks then and took off, feeling both tired and hungry so he just left the pub and turned to his little house. Almost getting lost he stumbled into the right street a little while later, looking up as someone exited the house across from his own. It was Isaac, he figured. Or there must be a lot of guys with his kind of hair. “Hi there,” Dave smiled as he walked past him, earning a smile from the guy back. “Hey you, Dave was it?” He asked with a sly grin as he just eyed Dave. Dave felt objectified though that was both scary as a turn on. “Dave it is yes, have a good evening,” he then smiled before he hurried towards his frontdoor, feeling way too awkward to have that conversation last longer.

Despite her close encounter with death just a few seconds ago, she simply didn’t feel like staying in het living room and being frightened about that. She took her jacket, checking if it still had the pack of cigarettes in the pocket before putting it on and stepping out of her front door to smoke outside. Usually she smoked inside, but this time she didn’t feel like staying inside. Being outside in the street made her feel safer than spending her time on the couch. If she screamed here, people would hear and be concerned, inside it was a different story.
As she lit her cigarette, she saw that Isaac had not quite left and seemed to be talking to the kid she briefly talked to in the bar. He was pulling one of his usual stunts, he did it fairly often. People still thought the duo was dating and besides Sid being emotionally manipulated into staying with Isaac, she never dared to deny the claims. Still he flirted with almost everyone he met. Most people in town just brushed it of as Isaac joking around, though she knew that Dave was new in town and didn’t know what to do when Isaac hit on him.
For some strange reason she felt the need to help the kid out, in whatever way she could. Distracting Isaac  was her best bet at this point. Slightly quicker than normal she made her way to the blonde man, grabbing his arm with her free hand. For a second she looked at Dave and waved at him with her hand that still held the burning cigarette. Isaac looked confused at her for a second before grinning.
Something about those little manerisms still looked so hot to her. For a guy pretending to be a christian he had a weird energy radiating off of him that pulled her in. It was definitely one of the reasons why she always agreed when he said they were still dating. Who could blame her? Had they even taken a good look at Isaac? He was unbelieveably good looking to the point where even Sid, his complete opposite, was attracted to him, still after all he had done to her. It seemed to be some primal urge, or her maybe losing her mind. She wasn’t sure yet.
She quickly pressed her lips to Isaac’s, not caring about who would even see at this point. Basically the entire town knew of their relationship. After just a few seconds she let him go before she opened her eyes and she watched him do the same, almost staring into her soul with his piercing blue eyes. “Already letting go? What did I do to deserve that?” Sid looked at him for a moment, the grin on his face that was a mere inches away from hers as he had his hands on her hips. “Stay away from the kid.” She simply murmered, feeling his gently squeeze her hips as he softly laughed. “Why? Are you his mother or something?” He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, so he could have another clear look at her face, which still had the stains on her cheeks from the dried up tears. “He’s too young Isaac, let him be.” Again he grinned, “He’s awfully cute though, isn’t he?” After she took a long drag of her cigarette and let the smoke seep out of her mouth, while Isaac seemed to stare at it intensely. “Am I not enough than?” She couldn’t help it, sarcasm was in her nature and his statement was just an open invite. He responded by simply kissing her again. Again she let him go to take another drag from her cigarette. “Smoking kills, you know.” He gently pushed her back towards her front door. “I prefer to die because of cigarettes rather than by your hands.” She whispered in response. “Hm well, I can’t make any promises I won’t keep.. you know the lord is watching me. But I don’t think cigarettes are gonna beat the race against me.” His tone also changed to a whisper.

Dave shot a quick glance back and couldn’t help but smile this time when he saw Sid wave at him. He quickly waved back before entering his house. As he locked the door behind himself Dave looked around the still completely empty house. All there was was a cheap mattress on the floor and a charging cable placed on the small kitchen counter. Dave hadn’t had any time yet to actually make something out of it. Taking the hoodie he had placed on the mattress Dave pulled it on and sat down before taking out his phone. He also took the cigarettes and beer receipt after which he added Sid’s number to his phone. He doubted if he should immediately text her but he figured it wouldn’t technically hurt anyone if he did. *Hi! It’s Dave, the guy from the bar, who you handed your number to, on the cigarettes and beer receipt!* He typed in the message and decided to just send it. He didn’t see anything wrong with it. For a few seconds he kept his eyes locked om the phone before he switched apps and checked his bank account. He had been lucky that his account was a personal one and one that his parents couldn’t access. At his eighteenth birthday he had gotten a lot of money from their savings for him. It had been around two hundred thousand dollars, which was a huge amount of money. But Dave had been hesitant to spend it. Yeah, he paid for the house with that money, which wasn’t a high rent at all, so even if he didn’t spend any of it besides rent and water and stuff, he would probably still last like, at least 50 years in the house. Of course that would mean he had to get a job to buy food and... no just food probably. The idea of a job wasn’t unfamiliar to Dave, he had had worked before in his life, just not for anyone else besides his father. Though he doubted there was anyone else on this world to be even worse than that guy, it still kind of gave him anxiety. And the fact that most jobs required calling didn’t help either. If he could just text all potential work placed then he would be extremely happy, but that wasn’t really possible.
After having opened up his phone again Dave started the youtube app and decided to watch one of his favorite rip vine compilations, just something to take his mind off of things for a little while. What was supposed to be a little while ended up being at least an hour of him binging some vines he had already seen at least a hundred times. This didn’t seem to mind Dave though, je just kept on watching. Well, until he realized that there was absolutely no food in his house. Not that he had a fridge to put it in. Switching between apps again Dave went towards the Safari app and googled ‘walmart near me’ which was luckily only a five minute walk, and the walmart was open twenty four seven. While Dave was still a little anxious on going outside, seeing as Sid had referred to this town as a supernatural hotspot, though it had been a joke, Dave just was a little spooked. He put his phone in his pocket and zipped up the hoodie before he walked back outside and locked the door behind him. How he was going to drag a fridge home he had no idea, but it just had to be done. So he started walking towards the twenty four seven walmart to buy both food for probably two days, and a fridge. And god knows what else he would come by, maybe they even sold caprisun.

Sid stayed outside for a little longer, wanting to smoke her cigarette in te cold night air. Why not? It was refreshing. Isaac still lingered around her, as she could feel his hands every now and then, either touching her or taking the cigarette to take a drag. Sid had offered him his own, but he refused the offer. He kept waiting for her however, and she knew what he was waiting for. It had been too obvious really, besides, she was the one to tempt him after all. But it had been in the name of safety, because apparently that new kid’s safety meant more to her than her own.
She dropped the cigarette bud on the ground before she stepped on it. Sid barely had enough time to do so before she could feel Isaac’s hands dragging her inside the house and almost forcing her to the bedroom while keeping his lips locked with hers. Lucky for him, she was still vaguely in love with Isaac and didn’t mind it all that much, he wasn’t killing her after all and that was the important part. Sid almost ripped off his polo shirt, revealing a lightly scarred torso that barely ever gets to see the light of day. It was a clear indicator of his shady side, but since Sid already knew about this he didn’t bother.
Sid wasn’t entirely sure how much time the man had spend in her bed, but she could feel him move next to her. As she looked up, she saw him putting his clothes back on and preparing to head out. “Leaving already?” She spoke with a somewhat sleepy tone in her voice. “I wish I could stay, doll, but I’ve got stuff to do and places to be.” It was a vague description and Sid didn’t quite know if he was referring to one thing or the other, but decided not to ask. Isaac looked in the mirror, messing with his hair until it looked the same as when he entered the house, instead of the mess it was after Sid kept pulling on it just minutes ago. He grinned while fixing his hair, before he walked over to her, leaning over her to lightly press a kiss against her forehead. “This is why you get to live, if it weren’t for this you wouldn’t have lasted as long as you’re doing right now.” Sid stayed silent for a few seconds, “Fuck you.” She finally managed to tell him, hearing him laugh in that same menacing tone while standing by the door. “You just did, doll.” And with those words he left the room and notmuch later her house all together.
Sid also got up, but not before knowing that Isaac had left her house. How he got her to do whatever he wanted eacht time was a mystery to her as she promised herself that each time would be the last, but she never actually kept het promise. She sighed as she looked at the rosary in her hands for a few seconds, he had used it to keep her hands togetherand out of his hair, seemingly his only pride and joy. As she got dressed, she tucked the string of beads in the pocket of her pants, not exactly sure as to what she had to do with it.
once again Sid got her jacket from the floor, checking fir cigarettes before she realised she had smoked her last one already. Great, now she had to go to wallmart, a place she absolutely despised but it was the only twenty four hour place in the entire town. At least she could get herself some cereal and alcohol too.
Despite it being a short walk, she still took her car, too lazy and far too tired to walk to the storeanyway, so why would she? Quickly she hopped in her car and started driving towards the walmart.
