Hello everyone, my name is X and I’m eighteen years old. I’m currently studying to
become a specialized childcare worker and I’m in the third and final year of my
study. As part of my education, I’m doing an internship at X
where we take care of children before and after school, and also during the school
vacations. Our tasks include bringing the children to school/taking them from
school to X, eating lunch and snacks with them and doing activities like painting,
crafting, playing (?) football and games with the children. My internship location has AN (a afterschool gaat niet aangezien er 2x klinkers na elkaar komen) afterschool
care and daycare located in(klinkt misschien wat beter maar is niet noodzakelijk) the same building. There are also other companies in the
same building including a kindergarten, a local center and a sports club and it
has a gym, which is used by the schools that are close by. As work clothes we
wear shirts from X, and if we are going to pick up the children from
school we have orange jackets with ‘X’ on them. We wear this so we are
recognizable for the children when we are working or when we are picking them
up from school. For other clothes such as (is beter denk ik) pants or shoes we don’t have rules. A
benefit we get from wearing the work clothing is that we are recognizable for
the kids, (Dit is al de 2de keer dat je dit zegt, dus misschien anders verwoorden zodat je het niet nog eens moet herhalen) so they know (now= nu, know = weten) where they have to be when we pick them up or who’s
working when we are at the location. A disadvantage (an disadvantage bestaat niet, je hebt al een medeklinker in disadvantage dus dan moet je de n weglaten) about the work clothing is
that there are not a lot of shirts or jackets, that if they get dirty or there
are a lot of people working you don’t have an extra shirt or jacket (deze zin klopt niet helemaal tho). Materials or items that we work with on my internship are a broom for sweeping the
floors, we do this after we ate lunch or snacks and also at the end of the day. A
cleaning cloth for cleaning the tables after eating or an activity, a dish
cloth for drying the dishes and a dishwashing liquid for cleaning the dishes. I
really like my internship, my colleagues accepted me right away and acted as if I had been around longer than I actually was. Last but not least I wanted to mention that the children are amazing. I'm only having trouble stepping up when an older child did something wrong. Besides that I have classes before the internship, which is kind of exhausting but to me it is all worth it in the end.

have school before the internship days the week is very long which I also find
kind of exhausting but it’s worth it in the end.
