Naam: Nim Cashandra Cobb
Leeftijd: 19
Geslacht: Vrouwelijk
Uiterlijk:

He will protect his cute little doggiedog.

As soon as the first rays of the golden sun shone upon Nim's face, she opened her eyes, only to be momentarily blinded by the light. She blinked a couple of times, slowly getting used to the sun. She lazily stretched her body, still not getting up. Sleep clouded her mind, as she rubbed her eyes. Finally feeling a little less sleepy and a little more like her energetic self, she sat up, looking around her part of the tree hut. When the red-haired girl noticed someone pacing through her room, she frowned. The young man, also her brother, apparently hadn't noticed that she had woken up yet, as he continued his pacing. His oblivion didn't take long, though, he looked up before she could try to get his attention.
‘Morning,” Warren greeted her, smiling a little. She mumbled it back, running her fingers through her long, red hair and waiting for him to explain why he was here. Her brother usually didn't come into her room unless something important was going on; he knew she didn't want people in her room. After a rather long silence, she grew impatient, and asked him what he was doing here. She tried not to sound like she wanted him to leave, but failed miserably. She quickly added “no offense”, to which he nodded.
“Father wants to talk to you,” he said. She frowned again.
“What about?” she asked, but Warren shook his head, apparently he didn't know either. She knew better than to disobey her father, so she quickly got up, got dressed and followed her brother to a different area of the tree hut, in which her father resided. It didn't happen often that her father wanted to speak with her so badly that he had her brother ask her to come, so it was probably urgent. She couldn't think of anything he would want to talk to her about, though. She hadn't sneaked out and gone into the woods by herself recently, nor had she offended anyone, as far as she knew, and if he didn't even tell her brother what it was about, it had to be something important. Once they arrived at their father's room, the attendees fell silent, everyone looked at them. Her father looked serious, while her mother had a huge smile across her face - Nim only got more confused. They both greeted her, but she felt a little too uncomfortable to say anything back. She didn't like to be in the center of the attention, it made her feel more self-conscious than she liked.
“So, what's going on?” she awkwardly asked, feeling as though she was the only one in the room – besides Warren – who didn't know what all this was about.
“We have some splendid news for you, dear,” her mother said, still looking extremely happy. Her father nodded and added: “Indeed, and we're sure that you'll be just as excited as we are.” Nim still had no idea what they were talking about and didn't say a word. Her parents shared a meaningful look, after which her father nodded.
“We found you a husband!” her mom exclaimed. The guards and friends of her parents starting cheering, but Nim's eyes just widened and her jaw dropped. She turned around and looked at her brother, who looked equally as surprised as her. She wasn't happy with this, no, she didn't like a single bit of it. Who did they think they are, to decide who she should marry? Of course, it was normal for the king and queen to pick a suitable husband for their daughter, but Nim had never expected her parents to do such thing, she wasn't even heir to the crown – her brother was going to be king, not her! She looked at them in disbelief, still waiting for them to yell 'just kidding!', but that didn't happen. Her mother walked up to her, opening her arms to hug her only daughter, but Nim had different plans. She turned around and ran off. She pushed everyone that wanted to stop her away, even her brother. She needed some time alone, to just think, and even though Warren was the sweetest boy she knew and probably the only one that she trusted fully, she wanted to get away from her parents, and he wasn't going to stop her – no-one was. She quickly climbed down and as soon as her feet touched the ground, she sprinted off into the woods, not slowing down until the vegetation and bushes forced her to. She was panting by then, but at least she was sure it would take some time until her parents could find her. Even though she was tired, she kept on walking; she wanted to get as far away from her family as possible.
While walking, she thought about what her parents had done for her. On one hand, it would be nice to be sure about her future, but on the other hand she wanted to be free and find a suitable partner herself. Surely she could decide what's best for her, couldn't she?
Before she could make up her mind about what she should do – going back, obeying her parents and marry a complete stranger or not going back, hide for the rest of her life but be free to marry whoever she wanted –, she got pulled from her thoughts by the noise of twigs and leafs being crushed by some sort of animal. Acting according to her instinct, she quickly got on hands and knees and hid behind some particularly big bushes. There was a chance that her bright red hair would give her hiding spot away, but as long as she stayed close to the ground, she didn't think she was in danger, and even if she was, she could always climb up some tree. When the noises came nearer, she could see that it wasn't just one animal, it were several human beings. It had been quite some time ago since she had seen actual humans, as she was around cats most of the time. The humans didn't seem to notice her, but a small dog did. She wasn't paying attention to the little creature that walked next to one of the humans, so by appearing right in front of her, it startled her. She smiled at the pup, it was kind of cute. Cats and dogs weren't known for being able to get along, but Nim had never had a problem with dogs, at least not if they were smaller than her. Her curiosity moved her to get closer to the small dog, and she reached out her hand with an endeared smile on her face, it really was cute. For a moment, she forgot about her family and about the humans that were still rather close to her, she just thought about the dog. When her hand got closer to the dog, it suddenly bit her fingers, though. She was surprised by how much that hurt and she let out a shriek, after which she stumbled back and pulled her fingers back as well. That didn't seem to stop the dog, though, as he started walking towards her, causing her to hiss at him. She waved her tail from side to side, warning him, though he wasn't impressed by that either. The closer he got, the more she backed up, until she just turned around and ran away from the dog. Her fingers were bleeding a little and still hurt like hell, but that didn't slow her down. When she looked around and saw that the dog was following her, she cursed loudly. She knew she wasn't supposed to swear, but she couldn't help herself, that thing was just way too fast for a dog his size. She didn't run very long, as she climbed up a tree as soon as she could. She wiped the blood on her fingers off of the piece of skin that covered her bosom and continued hissing at the dog that was barking back at her.

It was already a few weeks ago that they left the camp, but it seemed more like a couple of months. He did like it here, but he also missed his home and especially his comfortable bed. They were lucky everytime they could find a decent place to sleep before the night would fall, because those places were hard to find out here and it was still never even close to as comfortable as his bed was, sadly enough. However, he needed to admit that he did like to be here and he was especially happy that Butch enjoyed the free space here so much. At the moment the dog was walking at his side again, but Anthony already knew that it wouldn't take long before the dog would find something to chase or play with again. In the beginning he was a bit afraid that something would happen the puppy, or that he wouldn't come back, but maybe he underestimated the dog a little bit. Till now he came back unharmed everytime. Sometimes bringing a dead animal with him to show it with proud to his owner, as if he wanted to show off a bit. It was kind of cute and gross at the same time, which really was a weird combination. It was a weird dog anyway, so it actually went pretty well together.

As he already expected, it didn't took long before the dog found something, probably an animal, interesting enough to leave the group, so he could have a closer look at it and probably chase it, because the most animals didn't really appreciated it when Butch walked towards them. Not very surprising, despite the fact that he was still a puppy and therefore not very big. That the animal screamed did surpise the man though, because it sounded more like a human than an animal. It would be weird, if it really was a human, as all the members of the group walked in front of him while the dog was behind him and as far as he knew they were the only humans here. He also wasn't the only one, who got surprised by the sound as several looks were aimed at the space behind him now.

"Butch?!" He shouted, after turning around as well, but the dog had already dissapeared and was probably too focused on his 'prey' to pay any attention to him right now. "Stupid dog," he sighed, because he expected that the scream meant trouble and he knew that he would be the one who needed to get the dog out of trouble, as he was his owner.

"I'll be right back," he said to the rest of the group, after taking a second to decide that it wouldn't be necessary to ask help for this. It was really helpful that he could hear his dork bark, because he might not know what the dog found to chase this time, he did at least know where to go. As a bonus, the dog also seemed to stop running after a short time, but it took Anthony a while to find him anyway and when he found the dog, he was stunned by what he saw. At some points it looked a lot like a human, but it had a tail, a freaking tail! He blinked a few times with his eyes to be sure that what he saw was real and in the meantime, the dog already walked to him, looking for shelter against the human… cat… creature. Anyway, it didn't seem to be happy with the dog at all, which had probably something to do with Butch chasing him. At least, he was sure that this thing was what the dog chased, till he discovered something red in the tree, after he picked the dog up, to make sure the dog wouldn't attack the animal, or the other way around. It took him a few seconds to figure out that the red he saw, belonged to someone or something that was the same as the creature right in front of him and looking at the situation again, he assumed that it was the one in the tree that Butch chased.

"Eh, sorry for my dog?" He said to the male in front of him, hesitating a bit, because the boy looked quite angry, but he wasn't sure if these creatures could even speak, let alone speak English, so they might not understand a word he said and that would probably make this situation even more awkward than it already was. Even if the guy understood him, he didn't seem like he was going to give any response, so he turned to the girl in the tree instead. "I guess you can come down now. I promise the dog won't hurt you," he said, hoping she would at least say something back.

Not long after she had climbed up the tree, a familiar face appeared. Normally she'd get angry with Warren for following her when she had made it very clear that she wanted to be alone, but now she was actually thankful, as he tried to scare the dog away and protect her. She stopped hissing and curiously looked down from where she was sitting, trying to see if he was successful. It didn't seem like he was, though, the dog kept barking at him. Until a guy showed up. The dog walked up to the guy, after which he picked it up. The pup finally stopped barking and Nim immediately felt better. Even though the man apologised for his dog, Warren still didn't look happy. She wasn't expecting her brother to forgive him and the dog that easily, he had always been annoyingly protective. “I guess you can come down now,” he said, turning to Nim, “I promise the dog won't hurt you.” Before she could even respond, Warren interfered again. “No, you stay up there!” he yelled at her, sounding pretty angry. Even though Warren was shorter than the man, he looked pretty intimidating to her. She hadn't seen him this mad in a while, but she couldn't believe it was all just because of the dog. “And for you,” Warren then said, pointing a finger at him and waving his tail similar as to Nim had done earlier, “I want you to get away from here and never come near her again.” His words caused her to sigh. Why did he have to take everything this seriously? After having checked if the man was still holding his dog, which he was, she quickly climbed down. Warren looked at her as though she had just betrayed him or something. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked up at her brother. “There's no reason he has to leave, he didn't hurt me or anything. It was that dog,” she said, after which she glared at the dog, which was wagging his tail. Her glare quickly turned into a smile, though. The dog was just too cute to stay angry at. “Besides, it isn't that bad, it's not like he chewed off my fingers,” she chuckled. “But he could have!” Warren said, sounding concerned. “Oh, come on, don't be so over-dramatic. I'm fine, quit worrying about me.” He didn't seem to know what to say to that, as he just looked at the man and his dog angrily, mumbling something she didn't hear, and chose to ignore. She had known Warren long enough to know that he was just grumpy because he wasn't right and she didn't listen to what he said. Sometimes he could get really annoying, but on the other hand, she knew that he just wanted what's best for her, even though she wouldn't mind if he wasn't this protective, in fact, she would probably love to be left alone a little more. She sighed and decided it was best not to over-think it, since that would only get her upset about her life. So instead of thinking about that, she turned towards that man with the puppy. He was certainly taller than her, but he didn't look like he was out to hurt her or her brother. When some other humans neared the tree, she felt a little uncomfortable though, and she wasn't alone; Warren's body language told her that he was feeling slightly threatened as well. She wasn't sure whether she should trust these strange and unfamiliar humans or just climb back into her tree.

Anthony looked surprised at the cat-thing that just tried to command him. Did the male really think that he would hurt either one of them? If he wanted, he probably would've done that already. Besides, he picked Butch up, so the dog wouldn't cause anymore trouble than he already had and hadn't he shown he didn't mean any harm that way? Luckily, the girl seemed to have another opinion, because she climbed down and even stood up for him and his dog during the little conversation that followed, which made him smile a little bit. Just when he wanted to tell the two of them that he should go back anyway, because he didn't want his friends to worry about him, he saw them all appear. He didn't notice that both the cat-people felt rather uncomfortable by their appearence and he couldn't help but letting the enthousiasm of what he just found take over for a few seconds.

"Look what I found!" he said to the members of his group. "Or actually, Butch found them, but I found Butch so I guess that means that I kind of found them as well," he explained shortly, with a smile on his face that made him look like he was proud at finding them.

"Excuse me, but we're not items or something. A little more respect, please," the male said to that, looking rather irritated. Anthony could feel his cheeks turn a little red, because the creature made him realise that he did make it sound like they were, while he didn't mean it like that at all.

"I am so, so sorry. I didn't mean to say it like that. I eh, just meant to say that…" he said, not knowing how to end his sentence in a way that wouldn't make the male look even angrier than he already did.

"It's okay, don't pay too much attention to him," the girl said, rescueing him from her friend again, who didn't look very happy with that.

"Anthony, what is this?" Nicholas asked in a way, that sounded as if he was a bit disgusted by what he saw, which made the male glare at him. "What are they?" He continued, after he had only given them one look and apparently seemed to have decided they weren't worth his words as well, or he hadn't noticed they could speak. Only, it was pretty hard to miss they could speak, so it must have been the first, even though Anthony couldn't understand why.

"Don't be so rude. At least they look better than you," Giselle reacted laconically, giving the man a warning look to shut him up. "But we can better head back to the camp now we can still see where we walk," she continued, turning her look to Anthony.

"You're probably right. Don't want to be here when it gets dark anyway," the man answered, taking his attention off of the cats for a moment to look at the slightly irritated girl. However, the female cat claimed his attention almost immediately again, when she joined the conversation as well.

"The camp? Can we come with you?" Her sudden excitement surpised him a bit and somehow made him laugh a little as well. He couldn't say no to that, could he?

"No, they can't," Nicholas also decided to join the conversation, with an irritated look on his face. Apparently it was possible to say no after all.

"Why not?" Anthony asked. "I mean, look how cute they are. You can't say no to that." To strenghten his words, he showed that they were totally innocent and they didn't need to feel threatend, by running his fingers through the girls hair, through which she started to purr. "See, totally innocent," he said with a big smile on his face. The smile couldn't last long though, because within a second the other cat shouted at him that he needed to back off, at which he startled a step back. "Sorry, I didn't know she was your girlfriend or something!"

Both creatures stared at him for a few seconds before they both started to deny that they had a relationship with each other. It suddenly felt like he had said something really stupid, but he honestly wouldn't know what that could be, so he just stood there and looked really confused, while the creatures looked at eachother as if he had just said something that was totally wrong.

The death glare that Nim had shot at Warren and then at the human that was being very, very rude didn't last long, as the girl's comment made her chuckle a little. She appreciated the comment a lot, without it she probably would've gotten just as angry as Warren looked, but now she could laugh it off. Immediately when they mentioned the camp, Nim looked up. It would be a great opportunity to get away from her parents. The annoying human that was rude before as well quickly disappointed her again though, as he immediately disagreed. Her mood kept switching, excitement filling her thoughts again when Anthony stepped up for them and she felt even better when he petted her head. She had always loved affection and immediately started to purr. But, of course, Warren had to interfere, leading to a pretty awkward situation with her brother. She blushed a little and looked at the other cat. Only the thought of them together freaked her out a little, it was too weird to think about. “He's actually my brother,” she said softly, chuckling awkwardly. “They don't have to know that, it's none of their business!” Warren snapped. Nim raised an eyebrow at him, confused as to why he was so agitated. “And about that camp,” he started, after which he grabbed her wrist and pulled her away from the group. “You are not going with them. Mum and dad are worried sick, we have to go back!” She sighed and rolled her eyes. “I don't want to go back,” she said, “I don't want to marry some random guy I don't even know! I'm not just gonna surrender and go back, I want to go with them and I will, whether you like it or not.” She crossed her arms over her chest and pursed her lips a little, signaling to him that she had made a decision and she wasn't just gonna change that. “But...” he started, but he had known her long enough to know that she wasn't going to change her mind, and it was his turn to sigh now. “Fine,” he muttered, “But I'm coming with you. No way I'm leaving you alone with those guys.” He looked at them like they were the most dangerous creatures to have ever walked the earth. Nim couldn't help but smile. She was actually a little happy that he would join her, as at second thought, she really wasn't that sure if she could trust the humans. She didn't want to think about what she'd do if they wouldn't take them with them yet. He brother would probably try even harder to get her to go back to her parents, even though that was really the last thing she wanted to do right now. She just didn't want to face them at the moment, she didn't want to get yelled at for something she thought she didn't deserve to get yelled at for. All she wanted was to live a life before settling down and now her parents wanted to take that away from her. Well, no way she was going to let that happen. She felt more sure about her decision every second she thought about it, and after she had hugged her brother and thanked him, a smile graced her lips. Her smile seemed to be contagious, as Warren's lips tugged upwards a little as well. “Come on,” her brother said, and started walking towards the group again, she skipped after him. The rude human still looked annoyed, but Nim didn't care. He was mean to Warren and her, so he deserved to be annoyed. “So, can we come with you?” she repeated, sounding happy and ignoring the mean stares of the rude guy. “Of course. We need to go this way,” the man that was still holding his dog said enthusiastically. “I'm Nim, by the way,” the girl said while following the man, “And this is Warren,” she said, gesturing to her brother.

Anthony waited patiently, till the two were finished with their little discussion about whether they should go with them or go back to, wherever they're from. He wouldn't mind the extra company, because, even though he could get along quite well with each member of the group and none of them was even close to boring, they haven't seen anyone, but each other for the past few weeks. Therefor, it wasn't a big surprise, that he was glad that the boy agreed with them coming along to the camp.

He showed them the way with enthousiasm and a smile on his face, ignoring the complainments of Nicholas. It almost looked like he said some things loud enough on purpose, so they could just hear it and it weren't really positive things. Not that he expected anything else from the young man, after all, he was a little bit the pessimist of the group.

"I'm Anthony and this little fellow," he said gesturing to the dog that had fallen asleep in his arms, "is Butch. He is not that bad, you know? Just a little bit playful and doesn't know his own strenght that well. Oh, and don't bother Nicholas," he continued, pointing in the man's direction. "He just doesn't like strangers that much. But I find it very nice to meet the two of you," he ended, giving both a short look, before he turned his head back forward so he could watch his steps a little better and make sure they were still walking in the right direction. The last thing was proved at the moment the three tents appeared in his sight and all they could see from here was pretty much it already. The only other thing you could find in their camp was a small place where you could still see the remains of the campfire from last night. All together, it still wasn't much, but enough for them and most importantly, it wasn't too much trouble to take it all with them.

"We're here," he said, while he took a look at the two cats to make sure they were still there. One of them - guess which one - had a displeased look on his face and he apparently couldn't help but complain about the things he saw, or maybe the things he didn't see.

"Thís is it? And we are supposed to sleep here?" The condescending tone he used, surprised Anthony a little bit. Though, it didn't take look before the surpise turned into irritation and even though he tried to keep that out of his voice and face, he was pretty sure he didn't fully succeed at that.

"What else did you expect?" he started, ruder than he meant. He forced himself to stay calm and friendly as he continued, but that was easier said than done. "I mean, we have to travel a lot and this travels light, in contrast with, pretty much anything else you can use to sleep in." The slight irritation slipped through his voice again at the end of the sentence and he could see by the cat's face that he noticed it as well. Only, the cat wasn't the only one that noticed it, as the pup in the guy's arms woke up from his little nap, disturbed by their conversation.

"This is not a way to treat your guests, you, you Human!" It wasn't even what the boy said, but more the way he said it.

"Honestly, if you don't want to be here, then leave, 'cause I'm not getting on my knees for you, if that's what you expect me to do, your Highness," Anthony replied, the end as full of sarcasm as the beginning was filled with irritation. He had already tried to stay nice, but that hadn't got him any further with the boy and he was just sick of it by now. His decision to stop paying any other attention to the guy, until he would act in a decent way, was started at the moment he turned his back on him, so he could get some food for the dog. It was licking and chewing at the fingers of Anthony's mechanical arm, which was probably one of the only things that could handle the sharp teeth of the dog.

"I'll be right back. Gonna get Bucth some food, before he starts eating your brother," Anthony said to Nim, realizing it would be rude to just walk away from her, especially because she had only been nice. A little bit weird, now he came to think of it, as she was the one that got bitten by the dog and not her brother.

"Oh, and make sure your brother doesn't do anything stupid!" he added. It wouldn't be too surprising if he would act like this to the others as well and wouldn't be pretty if Nicholas got involved.

Nim couldn't help but chuckle a bit at Anthony's words. Her brother could indeed get a little condescending from time to time, their parents tended to spoil the two quite a lot. Warren didn't seem to appreciate what the man said, though, and he certainly didn't like the chuckle. He turned to Nim, his face looking as shocked as if she had just stabbed him. Trying to hide her smile, Nim looked down at her feet. Although she wasn't very fond of the way Warren treated the humans – especially after they had been very kind to them –, she didn't want her brother to get mad at her, she didn't like to get yelled at, especially not by people she loved.
"What are you laughing about?" Warren snapped.
"Nothing," Nim answered softly, looking up at her brother. He still seemed rather offended, but his face softened again quickly.
"Just... try to be a little nicer to them okay?" she said, "I don't think they mean any harm, so there's no need to snap at them."
Warren frowned, but didn't say a word – he probably knew that she was right, he just didn't want to admit it. He had always been that way; proud, confident, spoiled. By now she knew how difficult he could be, so she couldn't blame the humans for getting offended. She had learned how to handle him, though, and she was confident she could get him to be a little less rude and a little more grateful.
"But," Warren eventually started, "Don't you think it'd be better to just go home?" He looked around, making sure the humans weren't too close. "I really don't think we should just trust them. There's a reason why mum and dad never wanted us to go too far from home."
Nim sighed. In some ways, she looked a lot like her brother; she too tended to be rather proud and she didn't like admitting that she was wrong. Of course she knew that going with a bunch of strangers that could probably kill the two of them easily may not have been the best decision they could've made, but it just felt right to her. Besides, what did they have to lose? If the humans wanted to kill them, they could already have done it, so Nim didn't see why they wouldn't trust them.
Nim just shrugged and avoided her brother's look, "We'll be fine," she muttered. She then turned around and started walking away from him and towards the girl that had stood up for them earlier, who was standing by the fireplace, probably trying to get it back on. There was another guy standing next to her that she didn't remember specifically, but she thought might as well get to know him a little better as well.
"Hey," she greeted them, after which they looked up. "Can I help you with anything?"
The girl was first to answer: "Hi! Nim, right?" The cat nodded. "I'm Giselle, and this is Gem," she said, gesturing towards the tough looking man. Gem got up from where he was crouching by the fire and held out his hand for Nim to shake it. She wasn't used to shaking hands, but she had seen her parents do it before, so she managed to do it without making it too awkward.
"Pleasure to meet you," Gem said, making Nim smile; he was nice, she liked him.
"How about we go get some more wood, there’s not enough left here," Giselle proposed. Gem quickly agreed, and so did Nim. The walk started off with a bit of silence, but Nim wasn't too fond of silences, so she just started talking.
"So," she started a bit awkwardly, "I'm sorry about my brother, he's just worried about me, I guess." She shot an apologetic look their way, but Giselle just smiled at her.
"That's okay, as long as he maintains himself around Nic and doesn't go too far, it should be fine. Besides, most of us aren't as easily agitated as he is, so I'm sure he won't cause any trouble." Nim smiled, and it didn't take long before they were chatting about anything they thought of. Nim was getting more and more comfortable around the humans, and she was absolutely certain that she could trust them. If only her brother thought the same, that would make it a lot easier. She was still worried that he might go back to their parents and tell them where she was, and she didn't want that to happen. Not yet, at least.

By the time Anthony got back, after getting some food for the little dog, there were missing a few members of the group. It wasn't hard to figure out who were, asmit was a really small group, but that wouldn't help him with the question where they had gone. Puzzled he walked to one of the other members, hoping that he could tell him where they were. Not that he didn't trust them, but it's always nice to know where everyone is, if you're in the wild.

"Where are the others?" he asked to the youngest of the group, a man named Cedric, who only reached his shoulders. The man looked more like a boy because of that, but officially he was already a grown-up. Otherwise he wouldn't even have been here, as the people that had sent them never would have allowed that any children would have gone with them. They already had made a lot of fuss about him at this age, let alone the trouble they would have made if he had only been one year younger. It wasn't even that big of a difference, but he had to admit that he did understand why they had chosen to keep to that rule, as there had been lots of children who saw this as a fun-trip and this had prevent a lot difficulties. Still, he was happy that the man had come along with them, as he proved himself several times as a worthy member.

"They were messing around with the campfire, so I guess they're getting some firewood or something. They took the girl with them, but the male must still be somewhere around," the boy replied, giving a small nod to the campfire to point it out, after which he looked around to see if he could find the boy. "Though, I don't see him anywhere?" The words had barely left the man's mouth, when Anthony heard a big bang, combined with a short scream. The shouting of Nicholas followed maybe two or three seconds later, as that was all the time he needed to walk to the crime scene.

"I think that Nicholas just found him," Anthony said with a confused look at his face, before he turned around to go to the men, who were both shouting now. He just hoped they hadn't already killed each other, by the time he would get there. Luckily, both were still standing straight, when he reached the tent in front of which they were argueing. Nicholas was holding the gun, which probably caused the noise, but knowing that the man just arrived, made him figure that he took it from the male.

"Nicholas, give me the gun!" he commanded, knowing that Nicholas was capable of using it, if it would come to a fight and seeing their faces, that could happen every moment.

"Not before that Cat is out of here! He could have killed us with his stupidity!" he shouted, making the word 'Cat' sound as insulting, as the cat had made the word 'Human' sound. "He is a danger to us all. It's a matter of days before he actually murders us, if not on purpose then he'll find a way to do it accidentaly and I don't know about you, but I am not going to let myself get killed by that creature of there!" With every new word he said, he sounded more and more furious and he looked like he was going to lose his mind.

"Nicholas, calm down and give me the weapon, before you hurt anyone with it," Anthony said, trying to calm the man down, while he stayed at a certain distance, not knowing what the man would do next. "Nicholas," he repeated and looked at the man, but the cat couldn't be more stupid, as just wouldn't stop challenging the angry man. "Just shut up, idiot! You got a deadwish or something?!" he said frustrated to the male, who surpisingly did as he said, through which he could turn back to the man holding the gun. "So if you would like to work along as well now. Would be great." His voice went from irritation to sarcasm, but went back to the first again when the man still didn't wznt to work along.

"Forget it. I want him out of here." God damn stuborness. Why couldn't he just work along a little bit?

The girl and the guy, who turned out to be Giselle's boyfriend – Nim thought they were the cutest couple even – were as nice as Nim thought they would be. They were kind and friendly, not as rude as that Nicholas. They were just starting to get a aconversation going, when they heard this loud noise, which sounded like it came from te came. “What was that?” Nim asked. She didn't recall hearing a sound like that ever before. At first she assumed something may have just fallen down, but at second thought it sounded louder and just... different. Giselle and Gem shared a meaningful look, as if they both knew perfectly well what it was, which they probably did. “We should go back,” Gem said to no-one in particular, to which Giselle nodded. They both just dropped the wood they had collected and started running back, Nim followed quickly, careful not to lose them. Although she knew the part of the woods where she and her family lived very well, she was not too familiar with this bit. It was a good thing she was fast, otherwise she would never have kept up with the humans. Once they got to the camp, Nim immediately realised what the problem had to be. Or actually, who the problem had to be. As soon as she heard her brother's voice, she knew for sure he had gotten himself into trouble. She almost got scared that Anthony would send them back after all, since he looked so annoyed, even from where she was standing, she could see that. Thankfully though, he didn't seem to do that yet. “Wait!” she yelled, and ran to the tent in front of which they had been screaming at each other. “Warren will apologise, just don' t make us go,” she almost pleaded. She still didn't want to go home, she just started becoming friends with Gem and Giselle and she already liked them better than she liked her parents. Warren, however, didn' t seem so eager to stay, as he raised one of his eyebrows and muttered: “No way I'm apologising to him, I didn't even do anything.” Once again, she crossed her arms, sternly looking at her brother. “Don't you ruin this for me,” she hissed. She rarely got angry, she hardly ever even got annoyed, so the displeased look on her face surprised Warren more than a little. She was usually more the kind of girl that would sit quietly and wait for everything to blow over, as it usually did, eventually, instead of getting mad. But this time seemed different. Not only did her brother just annoy her with the way he acted at the moment, she also didn't even want to think about going back, it would just be easier to stay here. “Oh, come on, Nim,” he said, although he didn't sound like he was mad at her, more like he knew she was right and he was just whining because he was too proud to apologise. “It was just an accident, I didn't do it on purpose, so why should I apologise? He started yelling at me!” “You could've killed us!” Nic then interrupted, still sounding pretty pissed. “How could I have known that that thing did that?! There should be a warning on them somewhere,” he muttered, sounding equally as annoyed. Nic looked as though he had never seen anyone as stupid as Warren, but the annoyance hadn't faded yet either. “Well, maybe you just shouldn't touch other people's stuff. Now, apologise,” Nim urged. Although Warren seemed very displeased with it, he muttered something that seemed close to an apology. Nim sighed at his stubbornness and silently wished he would genuinely tell Nic that he was sorry, but she left it alone for now.

The whole discussion claimed all his attention, causing him to not notice the others who had come back already, due to the loud gunshot. Because of that, he was a little bit surprised to hear Nim's voice when she shouted at them, but when he looked up it was definetely her who was running their way and she definetely chose their side over her brother's as well. However, the most surprising thing was the fact that she eventually got her brother to apologise, or at least sort of. He hadn't expect that to happen, but he was more than happy that it did happen.

"You've got your apology. Now, if you would please give me the gun," he repeated, still not trusting the man with the weapon. Besides, it was one of his weapons anyway and he didn't like other people running around with them.

"Fine, but next time he won't come away with it so easily," he muttered, before handing the gun over.

"Alright," Anthony said and slightly turned his head, so Nicholas wouldn't be able to see him rolling his eyes. At least, he finally had the gun now and as a bonus, Nicholas walked away again to hopefully do something useful. It gave him the perfect opportunity to thank Nim for helping out with her brother. He was sure the two would still have been arguing, if she hadn't helped him out, so he owed her one. "Thanks for stepping in."

"No problem. Warren might be annoying from time to time, but he meant well."

"Yeah, Nicholas just acts like a ten-year old douchebag from time to time, but you'll get used to it," he said, while unloading the gun so he could be sure that this wouldn't happen again. He also put the gun back in his tent, as he already carried two others with him and it might be a little bit too much to walk around in the camp with three guns.

"Come on, let me get you a drink." The words had barely left his mouth when he already started walking towards the others. They were all sitting around the campfire and he was surprised to see that even Warren had joined in. Though, he did seem to remain outside a little. The only one he seemed to exchange some words with, happened to be Cedric, but even towards their youngest member he seemed to be a bit distant. But Anthony decided to just let it be, as it was already better than nothing and he didn't want to push the man, afraid it might lead to another confrontation. So instead, he took two drinks, sat down and turned his attention back to Nim. "You do drink beer, don't you?" he said, suddenly wondering.

"Beer? What is that?" she asked, while giving him a strange look. He should've known that their habits, including food and drinks, were different, as they had grown up in a whole other environment. Besides, they might have some similarities with humans, but they certainly weren't the same.

Though he couldn't help but let a soft laugh leave his lips. The innocence, that came with the ignorance, made him like her even more. It was kind of cute, and most certainly a welcome change around here.

"Here, just try it," he said with a big smile on his face and gave her one of the two beers. He kept the other one for himself, as it was more than welcome after their long and rough day. For the same reason, some food would be welcome as well and he was happy to see that Gem already started with their dinner. Though, seeing Cedric involved with their evening meal, did make him kind of worry a little bit. The kid was by far the most cheerful one of the group and Anthony was happy to have him around, but he didn't really seem to know what he was doing at the moment. Well, he would just have to wait and then see what comes out of it.
