Someone once told me you should always be yourself

So consider this me putting my mask on the shelf

And I don’t want to keep waiting for that better time to come

And I don’t want to be degraded because people get me wrong

I don’t want to keep living the life of someone else

I don’t want to start over and grab my mask from the shelves

But I feel like they’re people that intent to get me wrong

And feel like they’ll leave me if I won’t run along

So every day I start again running the same race

Until someone comes along that walks in the same pace

And decides that now is the time for me to stop and rest

And loves me the way I am and says it’s for the best

If I leave some memories behind along the way

Because if a mind gets too crowded you’ll no longer know what to say

And might live the rest of your life in silence.
